To actually be able to motivate, inspire and engage learners with these significant difficulties there is a need for educators to do the following:

■ develop strategies that better inform daily lesson delivery and planning;

■ be more flexible and creative in planning and delivering the curriculum;

■ use positive relationships to counter the insecurity of current educational challenges;

■ be more sensitive to learners’ individuality;

■ listen better;

■ recognize and contextualize the learners’ characteristics and work more effectively with them;

■ move beyond simple behavioral technologies and into more holistic, nurturing and therapeutic approaches.
