The school is considered to have the largest share in the student's life and the formation of his personality.
The school environment, the teacher's personality, the nature of the curriculum, the weekly study schedule, the method of presenting materials, and how the administration deals with them, have the greatest impact on the student's behavior and his interaction with science and knowledge. School principals and educational officials must work to achieve some matters that help to revive the cultural situation among students, and develop their reading status, which are as follows:
First: Establish a public library for reading, and include a reading period within the weekly study periods, provided that it is not less than two periods per week, and that it is supervised by the class counselor, and open a space for borrowing in it.
Second: Find a library to sell books that suit the ages of students in the school, taking into account the cognitive diversity of the sciences they studied, and the cultural and intellectual books that suit those stages.
Therefore, it is preferable that the books sold in it be under the supervision of a committee of professors who have knowledge in this field; so that the collection of books is not random.
Third: Supporting the book so that the student can acquire it, meaning that the financial situation of the weakest students is taken into consideration, so that books are not the preserve of a certain class, while others are deprived of them. Fourth: Creating a cultural atmosphere that attracts the student to read, by holding scientific competitions for research and articles, and encouraging reading through the guiding words of the administration and teachers, and publishing some of the benefits of reading and its importance in the school’s wall bulletin.
