Constraints on the coda: Consonant clusters

Consonant clusters follow a pattern in the coda characteristic of standard varieties of English around the world. Because more complex clusters are allowed in JamE than in JamC, some users of JamE are prone, beginning with a JamC lexical entry, to overgeneralize the conversion process as in the example below. This occurs with the creation of an /nd/ consonant cluster in the attempted JamE item below, based on the assumption that all rather then only some JamC /n/ codas had to be converted to JamE as /nd/.
