A problem is an obstacle to a desired goal, and the individual feels confused, hesitant and distressed by it, which prompts him to search for a solution to get rid of this distress and achieve the desired goal. Here are some solutions to avoid problems:
First: Choose to befriend good people and associate with people of moral virtues, and observe their way of life and their dealings to benefit from them. And the company of good people - that is, normal people who are not afflicted with the problem that the patient suffers from - helps him get rid of it.
Second: Avoid sitting with evil and immoral people and those who are afflicted with the same disease or problem, and do not listen to their whispers and embellishments, because their company calls for evil and committing risks. Don't you see that the individual is free from all evil, and whenever he befriends a corrupt person, he is affected by his corruption and calls him to do the same thing.
Third: The person should act with the qualities that he should have and show them in his conduct so that it is difficult for him to back down from them, or to be known for anything else. Whenever he sees himself leaning towards lusts, for example, he should avoid them with qualities of chastity and exaggerate in them until the soul is subdued.
Fourth: If a person commits a mistake or does something that is contrary to what is required to treat the problem he is suffering from, he should make a punishment and reprimand for himself so that it is deterred, and so every action has a punishment, such as giving charity for every sin or fasting when committing any mistake.
Fifth: The person should investigate the hidden faults of himself, and if he finds something of it, he should strive to remove it. Even if he asks his friends and loved ones to tell him what faults he has and strive to correct them.
Sixth: He should remember the bad consequences of the sin and the problem he falls into and consider the scandal that will befall him and how people will look at him and trust him.
