Friendship and establishing social relationships with others are considered among the basic needs of children, especially in the younger years. Children and young people influence each other and repeat what their friends do. In our present era, those who attack our culture try to spread aspects of foreign culture. We unfortunately find, a number of young people who develop congenital deviations as a result of Keeping company with bad friends. In order to choose a friend, parents must:
1- To explain the standards of friendship to their children, explain to them the characteristics of a good friend and a bad friend, and to attend family gatherings, parties, and ceremonies regularly so that bad relationships do not form between their children and other deviant people, who lure innocent boys towards corruption and deviance by exchanging vulgar tapes and pictures.
2- Monitoring the relationships of the emerging children with others in a way that does not arouse sensitivity or mistrust in them. If they find that one of those who are with them is not at the required level educationally or socially, they must work to sever this relationship between them, and if necessary, ideas must be exchanged with people whom the children respect in order to influence the children’s decisions.
3- Parents must not forget that the use of violence and hasty reactions may encourage children to conceal their relationships. Parents must act with balance and reason.
4- If the area is inhabited by many immigrants, it will contain a mixture of different cultures. Therefore, the loss of cultural institutions, the presence of unemployment, false businesses, and the presence of deviant people will lead to the deviance of some young people. Residents of such areas must increase control over children’s activities outside the home, and use caution in choosing friends.
